What is the focus of your organization?
Family Impact Fund’s mission is to provide tuition assistance to children from low-income families for high-quality early education and child care, helping parents to maximize their employment or continue their education. We believe that access to high-quality early education and child care interrupts the cycle of poverty, empowering two generations at a time. The impact: parents realize financial sustainability and young children are prepared for kindergarten, positioning families for a lifetime of success.
How did your organization start?
Our organization evolved from learning about the results of the Economic Opportunity Task Force Report and our desire to address the issues identified that impede low-income families from experiencing upward economic mobility. Family Impact Fund is committed to address young children’s education and working parents job advancement which will benefit the family’s economic security and emotional health. Our organization is collaborating with Child Care Resources to administer the program effectively and efficiently.
What is the issue you’re addressing?
Family Impact Fund provides continued funding for parents enrolled in the government child care subsidy program that have taken the extra hours and accepted the pay raises which have consequentially positioned them over the “benefits cliff” – the maximum income level when their child care benefits are lost. This loss of child care benefits can be absolutely devastating to an already fragile budget, such that a parent isn’t able to afford the raise in order to protect their child(ren)’s education and their family’s economic stability. Family Impact Fund encourages parents to maximize their employment opportunities toward financial sustainability, without the worry and stress of potentially losing their child care benefits.
Where did your passion for this cause come from?
My desire throughout my life to help others in need with understanding, compassion and action. I truly believe that Family Impact Fund has a great plan to interrupt the cycle of poverty in an effective and efficient way, two generations at a time.
Why is your work so important?
When we help low-income families in our community, we ALL benefit as it relates to the educational, social, emotional, health and economic outcomes.
What are you most excited for as it relates to the SEED20 process?
The opportunity to share Family Impact Fund’s mission, vision and impact!

What do you hope to get out of SEED20?
Great exposure for Family Impact Fund and to learn more about innovative initiatives that will enhance the lives of individuals and improve our community.
