These 20 innovators – selected from a competitive applicant pool – have compelling ideas for creating positive social change in the Charlotte region. Their ideas were selected based on relevance, innovation, and potential for tangible community impact. The SEED20 Class of 2013 will spend the next seven weeks collaborating with business and civic leaders volunteering their time to help them hone their ideas and presentations. Ten finalists will then be selected to present their ideas at a high-energy event, SEED20Unleashed!, on March 7, 2013.
Held at the Urban Garden, One Bank of America Center, SEED20Unleashed! will celebrate social entrepreneurs and the energy and ideas they bring to our region. All of the SEED20 Class of 2013 will be showcased and the ten finalists will make three-minute “pitches” to a panel of judges and an audience of business, academic, and nonprofit leaders, foundation executives, the media, and others interested in supporting the growth of social value in our region. Based on the “pitches,” the panel of judges will select the SEED20 award winners. The audience will also get a vote and their winner will also receive a cash award.
Speaking at last year’s sold-out inaugural SEED20Unleashed!, Mayor Anthony Foxx described SEED20 as “exactly what the doctor ordered for the city of Charlotte …. [It] is every bit as important as any economic development announcement we’ve ever had.”
Tickets to this fun and inspiring event go on sale at 9AM on Tuesday, January 8. Visit www.SEED20.org for details.
