SOCIAL VENTURE PARTNERS SELECTS 10 PRESENTERS FROM SEED20 CLASS OF 2014, ANNOUNCES SPONSORS AND JUDGES PANEL
CHARLOTTE, NC – SEED20 (https://edk.wgr.mybluehost.me), an annual competition for nonprofit entrepreneurs launched by Social Venture Partners, has just announced the 10 presenters from SEED20’s Class of 2014 who will pitch their ideas live at SEED20 OnStage! on March 11, 2014. They are:

- Pearls for Creative Healing
- PlateShare
- Project Scientist
- Refugee Support Services
- UrbanPromise Charlotte
- Youth Development Initiatives
The high-energy event on March 11th will be held at the Urban Garden, 1 Bank of America Center. Tickets are available for purchase at www.SEED20.org. All of the nonprofit entrepreneurs will be showcased on March 11th, with ten presenters giving fast-paced three-minute pitches of their ideas to a panel of judges and to the live audience. The 2014 SEED20 judging panel includes:
- Ron Ahlert, Executive Director, Community Culinary School of Charlotte—last year’s SEED20 winner
- Molly Barker, Founder of Girls on the Run and Run 2 Lead
- Charlie Elberson, Trustee, Reemprise Fund
- Mike Elliott, Managing Partner, Noro-Moseley Partners
- Mary Barr Gallivan, Director, Center for Corporate Philanthropy for Foundation For The Carolinas
- Stoney Sellars, Managing Partner, StoneHunt, LLC
The ten presenters will compete for five cash awards totaling $45,000. The awards include: Judging Panel First, Second, and Third Place Awards of $20,000, $10,000 and $7,500, respectively; Coaches Award of $5,000; and the Audience Award of $2,500.
Speaking at last year’s event, former mayor Anthony Foxx noted, “Entrepreneurs create jobs for our residents and come up with ideas that keep our economy on the cutting edge…. Social Venture Partners’ SEED20 competition… [is] helping aspiring social entrepreneurs turn their concepts into effective nonprofits—it’s exactly the kind of thing we need more of.”

In an effort to increase community engagement for social entrepreneurship, SEED20 created the CelebraTREE, an interactive mobile kiosk featuring a touch screen, photography, video clips, and engaging mechanical and technical interfacing. The CelebraTREE, designed to showcase SEED20’s innovative nonprofits and the energy and ideas they bring to our region will be moving around town to high traffic locations and special events, including the sky bridge between the Urban Garden and Founder’s Hall and SEED20 OnStage! on March 11th.
